Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we are asked most often about our courses, our certification, the Bildungsgutschein, registration and payment.

Courses & certification

Which certification does AsgCon hold?

Our quality management is certified according to ISO 9001:2015, the international standard for quality management systems. It commits us to documented processes, clear responsibilities and regular reviews, so that the quality of our courses and services stays consistently high.

What does AZAV mean?

AZAV is the German accreditation and licensing ordinance for employment promotion. It governs the conditions under which employment-promotion programs can be financed through the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter — for example with a Bildungsgutschein or an AVGS. Whether funding is available for your participation is decided by the responsible funding body; we are happy to help you clarify this.

Which courses do you offer?

We offer German language courses from A1 to C1, vocational training and professional education, technical certifications and professional development seminars. Courses run on site in Hamburg and, for many subjects, online.

Which language level is right for me?

Before every language course we run a short, free placement test. It takes about 30 minutes and determines the level (A1–C1) at which you will make the fastest progress. If you have never learned German before, you start at A1 and no test is needed.

Do I receive a certificate at the end?

Yes. Every participant who completes a course receives a certificate of attendance. Courses that prepare for an external examination (for example telc or Goethe) additionally lead to the recognised examination certificate once you pass the exam.

Bildungsgutschein & funding

What is a Bildungsgutschein and how do I get one?

A Bildungsgutschein is a voucher issued by the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter that covers the full course fee for an accredited course. You apply for it with your caseworker before the course starts. We are happy to advise you beforehand and to provide the course information your caseworker needs.

What if I am not eligible for funding?

You can book any course as a self-payer. The fee for each course is shown on its course page, and for longer courses we can arrange payment in instalments. Please contact us to discuss the options.

Registration & account

How do I register for a course?

Open the course page and use the application form there, or create an account first and apply from your dashboard. After you submit an application our team reviews it and contacts you about the placement test, the start date and — where applicable — your Bildungsgutschein.

I registered but did not receive an email. What should I do?

Registrations are reviewed by our team before your account is activated, so the confirmation email arrives once the review is complete. Please also check your spam folder. If nothing has arrived after two working days, contact us and we will re-send the activation link.

Payments & cancellation

How can I pay the course fee?

Self-payers pay by bank transfer to our account; you will find the details on your invoice and in your member dashboard. If your course is funded by a Bildungsgutschein, we invoice the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter directly and you pay nothing.

Can I cancel my registration?

Yes. Cancellations made in writing before the course starts are free of charge. After the course has started our terms and conditions apply. If you have to withdraw for an important reason, contact us — we will usually find a place for you in a later cohort.

Still have a question?

Our team in Hamburg advises you personally — in German or English — on course choice, funding and registration.
